TASK: Replacement Reminder — Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 3, 2026

TASK: Replacement Reminder (Consumable Timer) is an app that reminds you when household consumables need replacing. The developer is Boen.

In one sentence: this app has no server and no account system. Your data stays on your phone. The developer cannot access any of your data.

1. The developer receives none of your data

The app has no backend server and no account or sign-in system. Your list of items, replacement history, places, location coordinates and all settings are written only to a local database on your phone and are never uploaded anywhere.

The app does not use any analytics, tracking or advertising SDK (such as Firebase Analytics, Google Analytics or ad networks). The developer has no way of knowing who you are, what you record, or how you use the app.

2. What the app stores on your device

The following data is stored only on your device:

DataDetails
Item dataName, model number, replacement cycle, due date, stock count, purchase link, notes
Replacement historyThe date of each time you tap "Replaced"
Place dataPlaces you name yourself, location coordinates you set yourself, and Wi-Fi network names you specify yourself
Model photosPhotos you take yourself with the camera
App settingsReminder times, free-time window, schedule, appearance settings, language
Purchase statusWhether you have purchased Pro, which plan (monthly / yearly / lifetime), and when it was last confirmed with the store

The app has disabled Android's automatic system backup (allowBackup="false"), so the data above is not automatically uploaded to the cloud by the system and is not automatically transferred when you change devices. It can only be moved between devices through a backup file you export yourself.

3. Permissions, one by one

Location (approximate, precise, background location)

Purpose: To tell whether you have returned to a place you set yourself, so reminders go off when you can actually act on them.

How it is handled: Location matching happens entirely on your device. Coordinates never leave the device and are not sent to the developer or any third party.

If you decline: The app still works normally; reminders go off at the fixed time you set instead.

Wi-Fi state

Purpose: If you choose "Wi-Fi mode", the app reads the name (SSID) of the Wi-Fi network you are currently connected to and compares it with the name you set yourself, to tell whether you have arrived at that place.

What it explicitly does not do: It does not scan for nearby Wi-Fi networks, does not record the BSSID or any network hardware identifier, and does not upload network names.

Android classifies reading the Wi-Fi name as a location-related permission, so this feature also requires the location permission.

Notifications

Purpose: To send replacement reminders and restock reminders.

Camera

Purpose: Used only when you choose to take a model photo for an item, through the system camera. Photos are stored only on the device.

Storage

Purpose: Used only when you choose to "export a backup", to save the backup file to a location you choose; and to import a backup file you choose.

Boot completed

Purpose: To reschedule your reminders after the device restarts. Without this permission, reminders would disappear after a restart.

Network access, vibration, wake lock, foreground service

These are brought in by the third-party components described below or by the system notification mechanism. The app itself never sends your data to any server.

4. Third-party services

The app uses only two components provided by Google:

Google Maps SDK for Android

When it runs: Only when you open the "set place location" screen.

What happens: Showing the map requires requesting map tiles from Google; these requests include the visible map area and device information. This data goes to Google, not to the developer.

You can avoid it entirely: If you never set coordinates for a place, this screen is never opened.

Google's handling of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

Google Play Billing

When it runs:

Why it checks every time: Without this check, users who have already paid would be treated as not having purchased after changing phones or reinstalling. If the check fails (for example, when offline), the app keeps the status already stored on the device and does not downgrade you to the free version because of it.

What happens: Payments and checks are handled by Google Play. The app does not obtain or store your name, email address, payment method or store account; only the purchase status listed in the table above is kept on the device.

Because these checks are network requests to Google, Google knows that this device has queried the store about this app's products and purchase status. This data goes to Google, not to the developer.

Google's handling of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

5. Sharing and selling data

The developer does not share, sell, rent or trade any of your data — because the developer never obtains any data in the first place.

Apart from the third-party services above, the app does not send your data to anyone else.

6. Data retention and deletion

Your data is kept on your device for as long as you choose.

How to delete: Delete individual items in the app, or simply uninstall the app — uninstalling removes all local data. Because automatic system backup is disabled, no data remains in the cloud.

If you have exported a backup file, it is in the storage location you chose and must be deleted by you.

7. Children

The app is not designed for children and does not knowingly collect any data from children.

8. Changes to this policy

If a change to the app's features requires this policy to change, the developer will update this page and the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will also be announced in the app's release notes.
